Simply stated, no other facets of language are as important as your greetings and introductions. Greetings are the first words you utter when meeting with another person, and you introduction is when you first tell them who you are. The manner of your initial introduction will say more to another party than you would think, so we should take the time to perfect our introductory methods。

  1. Hi, how are you/how are you doing?

  2. Hi, it’s nice to meet you.

  3. Glad to know you/glad to meet you.

  4. I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure.

  5. Long time no see.

  6. I’d like to introduce myself; my name is Mr. Cobain, and I’m vice president.

  7. I’m glad to make your acquaintance.

  8. The pleasure is all mine.

  9. I’ve heard a lot about you sir, now I finally have the chance to meet you in person.

  10. Now would be a good time, I think, for some introductions.
A: Hi, nice to meet you, I’m Robert.
B: Robert, I think we’ve met before. I’m Patrick.
A: Patrick, yes now I remember. Wow, long time no see! How have you been?
B: Very well thanks, and how about you?
A: Can’t complain, I’m still alive!!!
A: Welcome, please step into my office. My name is Leo Thornton.
B: A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Thornton. I’m Harold Biggins from Omnicorp.
A: Our company has been watching Omnicorp with interest for quite some time, it’s a pleasure to finally have a meeting between our two companies.
B: We too feel this way. I’m most grateful for this meeting today.
Some greetings are not strictly in proper English, however they are acceptable in an informal setting. In a formal setting, for example a business engagement, proper English should be adhered to.

We all have our own opinions, although we don’t always express them. Your opinion is your own personal point of view, or the way you see things and it won’t always coincide with others around you.

  11. I feel that no other car comes close as far as luxury and reliability are concerned.

  12. If I’ve ever been sure of anything, I’m sure of this; your team is going to lose the game on Saturday.

  13. Maybe you’re right, but I still feel that blue is the way to go.

  14. If you could just see it from our point of view, I’m sure you’d agree with me.

  15. I guess we could try this another way.

  16. If you want to make the intelligent choice, trust me on this.

  17. You don’t seem to like my ideas, so tell me what do you think?

  18. I can’t go along with you on that, I’m afraid.

  19. That’s a great idea!

  20. I couldn’t agree with you more.
A: I just can’t seem to decide on which model of car to buy. What do you two think?
B: If you ask me, the sedan is just too expensive. You only have yourself to get around, so why not stick to the two door?
C: I don’t agree. The sedan has a much bigger engine and more leg room. You would be much better spending a little more.
B: There’s not much use for a big engine when you’re just getting around town. Don’t waste your money.
A: Hmmmm. I can’t decide.
C: maybe you need to take some more time to think about it.
A: now that’s a good idea.
By utilizing English correctly, you will be in a position to better convey your opinions clearly, without confusion or ambiguity. A clearly expressed ides will be received more readily than a vague and badly communicated one.
Opinions and ideas are best delivered in an even voice. A whining tone will force the listener to “switch off”, and therefore miss the point of your argument.

Likes and dislikes can be simply stated as the things and people you like, and the ones you don’t! We all have our own list and our own reasons. The differences in our likes and dislikes are what separates human beings one from another.

B: The new family is great, but they brought two dogs with them.
A: I see. You obviously hate dogs then.
B: I don’t mind some breeds, big dogs are ok, but I really dislike little dogs.
A: why? Most people love them, they’re so cute.

Never be afraid to ask for help, and never hesitate to offer it. No human being can handle everything on their own, so we should help each other at every opportunity.
